Setting Up The Race Training Planner & Tracker

This template lets you set goals for your distance and pace, then record your runs quickly, using an Apple Shortcut. You can see your progress towards your goal, based on your most recent runs and compare it with your expected progress, which checks how long you have left until the race.

Optionally, you can report your workouts to an accountability buddy or your personal trainer, using the second version of the Shortcut below and they can reply with comments that're saved in Notion. So if you're lacking motivation, you can read their past comments 🙌

The Shortcut is designed to work with any database, not just the ones that're included in my template.

Setting Up The Workout Tracker With No Accountability Feature

First, copy the template from here.

Then you'll need to copy two Apple Shortcuts - the Settings & the App.

Next, create an Internal Integration Token - video walkthrough / Notion's guide.

Open the Settings app and enter your Internal Integration Token and the IDs of your Events and Workouts databases. If you rename any of the properties that are listed in the settings table, you can update the labels there to keep the Shortcut working. Make sure that your Settings Shortcut is set up to run the App Shortcut in the last step of the Settings Shortcut

That's it, you're ready to go 🥳

Setting Up The Workout Tracker With The Accountability Feature

Video guide

💡 If you're a personal trainer, you could share this system with your clients and share feedback about their workouts using the commenting Shortcut.

First, copy the template from here.

Then you'll need to copy two Apple Shortcuts - the Settings (unless you had downloaded the first version of this Shortcut before) & the App.

Next, create an Internal Integration Token (IIT) - video walkthrough / Notion's guide.

I'd strongly recommend creating a second IIT for your accountability buddy / PT. The IIT gives anyone who has it access to whichever pages and databases you've shared with the connection. So creating a second IIT means you can make sure that you don't accidentally give the other person access to more of your workspace than you intend to. Don't forget to share your Workouts database with this integration.

Open the Settings Shortcut and enter your IIT and the IDs of your Events and Workouts databases. Then open the App Shortcut and select the person who you want to send messages about completed workouts to.

If you rename any of the properties that are listed in the Settings table, you can update the labels there to keep the Shortcut working. Make sure that your Settings Shortcut is set up to run the App Shortcut in the last step of the Settings Shortcut.

Then ask your accountability buddy / personal trainer to download these Shortcuts - Settings & App which they'll use to comment on your workouts.

You'll need to give them their IIT and the ID of your Workouts database to enter in the Settings Shortcut. If you rename the Date or Comments properties in the Workouts database then make sure you give them the new names of those properties so that they can update the Settings Shortcut.

And that's it, you're all set 💪
